Settings - Frame Throttle - Fast Forward RateĬan use that setting to run games faster I use 3x There are also other things I changed but I can't really remember them all now after so many months.Ĭhanges the default starting point for content search I use a different one of the CRT-Royales, they all look slightly different and there are many shaders for other looks. This means all my PS one games run with the same Shader but my other Emulators run with other shaders.įor SNES e.g.
It's under Main Menu - Quick Menu - Optionsīut the Shader fixed the problem for me so I changed it back to the initial values.įor the Shaders you want to go to Main Menu - Quick Menu - Shaders I had some flickering issues with some games so I changed the initial Scanline and the last scanline by 1 each. Most the configuration for the core can be done in the quick menu when a game is running. Main Menu - Load Content and then choose the image you want to run I used the Sony - Playstation (Beetle PSX HW) myself.Īfter that you have to load content (the game basically).

You then need to install a core which are different emulators.
NEST PS1 EMULATOR MAC UPDATE
I would also update RetroArch from the Main Menu - Online Updater
NEST PS1 EMULATOR MAC DRIVER
You need to place the PS one Bios inside your retroarch\system folder, else you can't run games.įirst thing for this to properly work is change the video driver to vulkan under Settings - Video - Output. The Shaders look best on a high resolution display, personally I use a 4k tv.
I didn't really expect someone to find my months old post about this. If someone is interested how I did setup mine I can post a mini guide. That said Retroarch can be a bitch to get into since they changed quite a bit and for the best shaders you have to run it on vulkan (which is not the default) to have access to all the correct shaders.

PS2 or any other console from that time is when you can actually upscale those assests and have really nice looking game. PSX was a time when the assests weren't good enough in my opinion so a look closer to the games how they were back in the day on a real CRT is more to my liking. Generally I didn't bother with higher resolutions for assets or something like that. You can also change these to your own liking which I personally didn't do. If you want a comparision I found this video of Street Fighter 2 which shows a few of them off and compares them to a real CRT.ĬRT-Royal is the one I use for PSX and I used crt-royale-ntsc-svideo for SNES. It's recommended to run those in 4k for the best Quality (it's also quite hardware hungry because of the shaders). The CRT Shaders for Retroarch are by far the best ones you can find and they (atleast for me) enhance the video quite nicely. Like other people already posted Retroarch not because of the emulation itself but because of the shaders for me, which afaik you can't use with any other emulator.
